As I have just gotten back from Dragon*Con, I haven’t had a chance to do any research (or much of anything) for the show. So, I’m going to ride the recent con energy to give you some tips on going to cons.

Part 1: Before Leaving Home
- Before you go, make your bed
- Pack accordingly
- Pack for space to bring stuff back
- Leave most of your tech behind
- Leave yourself behind; pack your bags, not your baggage
Part 2: Basics
- Make a top 5 list of things to do
- You can’t do everything — so don’t try to
- Be prepared to line up
- Make time for friends
- Don’t check your email (unless you have to)
Part 3: Advanced
- Follow the 3-2-1
- Pay for a con hotel in your second year
- Find a grocery store nearby
- Always have a spare wallet
- Take a chance on something new
Part 4: Takeaway
- Budget to have fun
- Take a camera, but take memories not pictures
- Be patient and respectful, especially to yourself
- Take out the earbuds and become part of the crowd
- Be yourself
