Show Notes for TWS109: Flashback to 2002-11-30

I’m retreating from 90% of my pursuits in order to concentrate fully on my PhD research. I don’t know how long that will take — I’ve tentatively said that I will try doing some things in January — but until then I’ll try to throw a few things down the pipe that most people haven’t heard before. — encaf1/MK

On the show this week: a show that originally aired on the TWS predecessor, “CAFFEEN!: EXPRESSO!” on November 30, 2002. It’s dubbed over from tape this time, but I think the sound processing I did on it made it reasonably listenable. I’m joined by my sometimes-cohost, the Decaffeinated ONE (Jeremy Gorman), who always brought out the great banter.

  • Theme Song: Caffeine by Grubspoon from The Podsafe Music Network
  • Promo: International Detective Dragons From Outer Space — Join anim5 as he sparks discussion with a provocative question, takes us with him on his leisurely stroll through the topic, mixing in thoughts and comments from his audience. First, listen; then, get involved.
  • Promo: The 9th Heroescast — Listen to the best podcast dedicated to discussing the NBC show Heroes.
  • Promo: 12 Volt Theater — Home of the creepy, surreal, interactive serialized novel, Down The Road, as well as Jack Jaffee’s BS interviews/discussions with podcasters, novelists and anyone else he feels like talking to.
  • Promo: Technorama — The weekly show may be off the air, but the special on-location recordings are off-the-hook!
  • Promo: The House Of Grey — The current audiobook that I’m listening to. Listen to the podcast-only novel – with Podiobooks or from the site directly. The story begins with a mystery of incredible proportions and unravels through the personal mystery of Monson Grey. Who is Monson Grey? Even he doesn’t know. All he knows is that Coren University is a world onto itself – a world that seems to have its own notions of reality..

  • Promo: Movie Mantras — Daily wisdom in the form of quotes from movies – brilliant!
  • Promo: PodCulture — “Equal opportunity geekness” – yes, they like both Star Wars and Star Trek (I think).
