TWS098.5: Feedback Extra(ordinaire)!

On September 19, 2008, in Episodes, Feedback, by the Encaffeinated ONE

Feedback and Criticism from: Mr Gadgets (Bruce!), Jack Jaffee, Fred Trellis (1st time responder — hope it’s definitely not the last!) and Michael S (another 1st time, definitely not last time, I hope!).

Mentioned: Metamor City by Chris Lester. I have subscribed to this and had a chance to listen to only a little bit. Fantastic! Speculative fiction in every way about a futuristic city with a very different past. “What if magic really existed?” turned up to 11. Going to listen to more!

Welcome curious masses!

On September 18, 2008, in Uncategorized, by the Encaffeinated ONE

To anyone who came here as a result of the interview: Welcome! Please, leave a comment below to let me know you dropped by. You can subscribe by clicking on the buttons on the right, or hit the VCR-like play button on any individual episode to hear it right here on the web page. I hope you find it interesting enough to subscribe to it.

Just remember:

  • You don’t need an iPod (any MP3 player will do, be it Sansa, iRiver, Zune, or many others) or you can listen on your computer;
  • it’s free! I don’t charge a dime. This is my hobby, my passion, and for now I can cover the bills. It gets tough from time to time, so if you really want to help out, hit the Donate button on the right. Don’t feel obligated, for sure.
  • There are many, many podcasts out there. I would encourage you to have a look for whatever you might be interested in — from knitting to knighting, from science fiction to romance fiction, from serious discussion to pure frivolity — you’ll probably find something on it. If not, maybe consider getting yourself a microphone and recording one yourself. It’s not really that hard, and can be very rewarding. (Drop me a comment if you want to know more.)

Well, the interview with the local CBC affiliate was pretty cool. Very, very brief — only 5 minutes long, actually. It was really interesting seeing the inside of a very professional CBC studio — been curious about that for a while.

The interview went well, and I think I held up my side reasonably well. I’m not used to meeting people so briefly and having them be specifically interested in talking to me — that’s truly strange, and I hope that I never really get so used to it that it becomes anything else…

Thanks again to my friend Gus, whose email apparently started this ball rolling, and to Terry Seguin and the rest of the CBC folks for their interest.

Interview With CBC?

On September 17, 2008, in Uncategorized, by the Encaffeinated ONE

Just got a call from the local CBC station. Turns out, a friend of mine (Gus!) sent them an email telling them about my Parsec award and how I do this podcast, so they’re interested in doing an interview about it.

Once I picked up my jaw from the floor, I said, casually: “Sure! What time?”

Well, it’s for the morning show, so it’s going to be at 6:45am ADT.

Erg.. That’s going to be difficult, so I’m going to have to get to be early tonight..

If you want to listen locally, you can go to 99.5FM on the dial. If you want to stream it, you can go to CBC Listen Live and click on the “Fredericton” button. (They stream in Windows Media format, unfortunately, but I hope people can still tune in.) If I can get a copy of the interview I’ll see about posting rights and probably drop it in the feed.

Oh! And I apparently just appeared briefly on CBC’s Spark, a show for which I have great respect. They also do a podcast version of their show — actually, they have an “enhanced” version, which includes the full interviews they do with people, which is pretty awesome. I haven’t heard it yet (it aired today, but the podcast also dropped today), but my part is merely me listing some of the blogs that I read…

So, yeah, today is a pretty awesome day.
